Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) was an American actress, singer, and dancer. Her first appearances on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. in You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working with famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is in the production for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. This film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The same team that created Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at helm of the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment proceedings in America for over a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
